Collection and Use of Information
8Towns Marketing is the sole owner of information collected through the Site. We will not sell, share, trade or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.
When you register to use this Site, we ask for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone and fax number, and company to establish a User profile ("Profile Information"). We use Profile Information for statistical and site usage analysis, to improve our marketing and promotional efforts, and to enhance the content and offerings on the Site. We may also use Profile Information for research purposes and to generate aggregate reports on usage trends, interests, and behavior. We provide Users of our Site with information necessary to facilitate the submission of Listings within one or more categories.
We use your e-mail address, and, if necessary, your mailing address, phone or fax number, to contact you only when necessary to clarify or confirm information you have submitted in connection with a request for a Listing or other placement within our Site.
If you choose to post a Listing for a company or group with which you are an owner of have an affiliation, we collect the information contained in and related to such listings. This information is used to deliver the Service and provide complete information to Users.
If you send us personal correspondence, such as emails or letters, or if other Users or third parties send us correspondence about your activities on the Site, we may collect such information in a specific file for you. We may disclose Profile Information or other User information in special cases when we have reason to believe in good faith it is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interfering with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, our users, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities. We may disclose any such information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.
Communication from Us
We may use the Profile Information we collect to occasionally notify you via e-mail about new offerings from us and special offers we think you might find useful.
As mentioned above, we may have to contact you to confirm information submitted in connection with your requested Listing in order to include your company or organization in our Service. Additionally, a Customer Service representative may follow up with a call after a Listing is requested, or after signing up to ensure you are satisfied with the Service. Our emails concern new features, participating companies and/or groups, and other newsworthy information specific to the local markets we serve. Although this information is not critical for successful use of our service, we believe it will enhance the value you realize from our service.
Session cookies are the most common and secure method for most sites to handle sign-ins over the Internet. Once you are authenticated, a unique identifier is temporary stored by your brower that identifies you as being sucessfully signed in to the system. If these cookies are rejected, you will not be able to use the Site. The sign-in will need to be repeated when your session times out or when your browser window(s) are closed.
While your Internet browser service may have the capability to remember your sign-in and password information for you, we recommend that you not use this feature and instead manually sign-in each time you need to use the features of this Site that may require Sign-in.
Control of Passwords
You are required to control your password as described in the User Agreement. If you have forgotten your password, you can have it emailed to the address that you registered with from the Site. In the event your email address has changed or if you would like to use an alternate address, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting your password.
Your password will be e-mailed to you shortly thereafter.
While we place a high premium on privacy and the security of all information shared with us, note that transmission of information over the Internet cannot be guaranteed 100% secure. Access to our Site is password protected, and a firewall protects our database from outsiders. We also use encryption to protect certain information that may be shared with us. The technology running the Site resides in a secure facility. All of our employees and contractors are made aware of our security policies and practices, and any changes or updates thereto. We periodically review our security policies and procedures and update them as necessary to ensure the protection of user information obtained via the Site and to ensure compliance with known regulations and best practices within our industry.
Corrections and Updates
If you would like to update or correct any Profile Information collected and used by us, please contact us via email at: email@example.com. You also have the option to change or modify information previously provided by revising your contact information online.
By accepting the User Agreement, you consent to the collection and use of the above-described information by us. This Privacy Statement is incorporated in and subject to the terms of our User Agreement. Changes to the terms of this Privacy Statement, and your acceptance of such changes, shall be in accordance with the terms of the User Agreement and will be posted on the Site so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
